GIVING AT ST JOHN'S

We have a massive vision and heart for what God wants to do in our church and community. We want to be a generous presence in our local community through our people and buildings and be a big-hearted partner to other charities and churches, always reaching out to others with God’s love. Most of our funding comes from donations from individuals and we are so thankful for this generosity which enables us to bring practical & spiritual help across all areas of the church & beyond.

It costs approximately £7,000 per week to maintain the work of St John’s. All donations, of any size, are much appreciated. It is particularly helpful if you are able to give a regular donation. If you pay tax, please Gift Aid your donation so that for every £1 you donate we can recover an additional 25p from the government.

THE BEST WAYS TO GIVE

1. Parish Giving Scheme

For Regular Monthly Giving please use the Parish Giving Scheme:

The Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) is a central Church of England scheme used by hundreds of parishes which minimises local administration and maximises cashflow because Gift Aid is recovered and passed back to us monthly. If you are able to make a regular donation please use this scheme if possible.

To set up a new regular donation:

You can set up a new regular donation directly via the PGS website at parishgivingscheme.org.uk
PGS also operate a telephone service that allows you to call to set up a regular direct debit gift.
Please call this dedicated line for new donors: 0333 002 1271. Lines are open Monday to Friday, between 9 – 5pm.

If you currently donate to St John’s using PGS and wish to review your giving:

please contact the PGS team by calling 0333 002 1260 or emailing info@parishgiving.org.uk.

You will need to provide:

  • Your bank account details
  • You will need to provide our details:

Parish: Hartley Wintney

Diocese: Winchester

Parish Code: 416005062

Other questions you will be asked:

  • Name and address of donor (if using Gift Aid must be one individual)
  • Would you like to Gift Aid your donation? (to be eligible you need to pay enough tax to cover the Gift Aid claimed on your donation)
  • For regular donations are you willing to increase your giving annually, in line with inflation? It is really helpful to us if you can say yes to this.
  • Frequency of donation (where applicable) : monthly, quarterly or annual basis. Monthly donations are particularly helpful.
  • You may be asked whether you want to make your donation anonymous. If possible, please allow your name to be shown, this information is seen only by the Treasurer.

If you join the Parish Giving Scheme, please email Trudy Rankin, our Treasurer, so that she knows to expect your donation: trudy.rankin@stjohnshw.org.uk

The website for the Parish Giving Scheme can be found at parishgivingscheme.org.uk

Other ways to give financially:

(Please note that donations made by card, whether online or via the machine in church, incur a processing fee, meaning the church receives slightly less than the amount given.)

  1. Giving by card online.  You can give by card online via the button below

  2.  Giving by card using the ‘giving station’ that can be found in the church
